The Dynamics of Board Service

Many volunteers step into a board position having no experience at governing a non-profit.  This 2.5 hour session will review the responsibilities of board service, explain how to avoid micro-management of staff, the decision making process and supervision of the executive director.

Policy making versus operational decisions will be reviewed as will the fiduciary and financial reporting duties of the board. We will cover why board liability insurance is needed as well as compliance with Sarbane-Oxley guidelines.

The board member to executive director relationship is a partnership. This session will help each side understand the benefits to the organization of knowing their roles, working together and making the organization as efficient as possible.
